Two brides standing on Bay Lake dock on Key Peninsula

We started photographing same-sex after the passage of Referendum 74 in late 2012, and these two brides were among the first gay couples to contact us. Their wedding took place on their own property in Lakebay, Washington, outside Gig Harbor. For their pre-ceremony portrait session, we visited this weathered dock on Bay Lake. I used my fisheye lens from a slightly raised position to get this unique angle, with a large amount of the lake and far shore visible behind them. You can see the curvature of the straight lines in the dock and far shore that is characteristic of fisheye lenses. The brides' bouquets are single long-stem red roses.
