Engagement portrait on concrete steps with zig-zag rail

The zig-zag line of the metal hand rail for this flight of concrete steps near the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington caught my eye as a unique place to photograph an engagement portrait. I posed the couple sitting on the stairs, she a step below him and both leaning into each other with heads and hands touching, so that they would be framed inside the angle made by the railing. I preferred the reserved-happy facial expressions in this photo over the more exuberant versions, and the black and white effect allowed me to pull out a lot of textural detail in the concrete wall.
